Tinnitus

It all started when…

I never had any intention to treat tinnitus…it just fell on my lap!

It all started when I was specialising in TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) and I noticed that so many of my patients have tinnitus too. Then, miraculously, after a few sessions, they reported a reduction in their tinnitus. At that time, I had no idea why, but after a lot of research and courses I understood the anatomical link.

There are ligaments that attach from the TMJ disc to the malleus (1 of the 3 bones in the middle ear). Any dysfunction at the TMJ can cause dysfunction of the malleus possibly contributing to tinnitus. Another link is with the dorsal cochlear nucleus. The video below explains the this beautifully.

Will this type of physiotherapy help my Tinnitus?

Check out both of the videos below to see if you can relate to some of the things I am saying. If the answer is yes, them it may be worth exploring having physiotherapy with a TMD specialist.
